RICHARD has built up more than 20 years' experience in the horseracing industry, having nurtured a desire to work in racing from a young age.
His first major job in racing came at Sheikh Mohammed's Darley operation following work experience with former top trainer Stan Mellor and at Littleton Stud in Winchester. He worked for Darley for 12 years before Anthony Stroud invited him to join and help establish Anthony Stroud Bloodstock Limited. That was in the summer of 1999 and Richard enjoyed eight years working with Anthony Stroud broadening his experience and, of course, increasing his knowledge of the bloodstock industry.
While working for Anthony Stroud Bloodstock Ltd he sourced and purchased winners for a host of influential owners and trainers, including Ivan Allan, Kim Bailey, John Best, Henry Cecil, Jane Chapple-Hyam, Peter Chapple-Hyam, David Elsworth, Neil King, Philip Mitchell, Hughie Morrison, Martin Pipe, Brendan Powell, Satish Seemar and Lucy Wadham .
During this time Richard achieved particular success with United and Mudawin. United, who he sourced from Germany, has won six times over hurdles notably the Grade 1 Punchestown Juvenile Championship in 2005 and latterly the 2007 National Spirit Hurdle (Grade 2), for Lucy Wadham. Mudawin was purchased at the Doncaster Lincoln Sale in 2005 for 42,000 Guineas, and famously won the 2006 Ebor Handicap at 100/1 for Jane Chapple-Hyam.
Richard has a thorough knowledge and understanding of the Form Book helping him pinpoint future high quality winners. This expertise enabled him to source several other top performers, while working for Stroud, including on the flat: Olympic Express (multiple Group 1 winner in Hong Kong), Tajasur (a champion sprinter in Hong Kong), Firebolt (Group 1 winner in Hong Kong), Mood Music (Listed winner in Germany and Italy), Stargazer Jim (winner of 5 races), Corriolanus (winner at the 2005 Dubai Carnival and Group 2 placed) and multiple winner Trinculo and over jumps: Fenix (placed in two Imperial Cups), Eleazar, Backbord, Classic Dream, Leo McGarry, Victoria's Groom and Diarius.
Richard also has experience of sourcing stallions; while with Anthony Stroud he brokered the deals to purchase Chineur for Tally-Ho Stud and Group 1 winner, Mamool for Gestüt Graditz in Germany.
His extensive experience has also brought work as a syndicate manager, notably for the Not Over Big Partnership, responsible for, and enjoying success with, Yeast, Super Dollar and Gallileo Figaro (pictured above), among others.
Richard has the skills and commitment to find many more stakes-class performers on the flat and over jumps and, indeed, provides a host of services essential to the bloodstock industry. Contact Richard with regard to your requirements.
