RICHARD has built up more than 20 years' experience in the horseracing industry, having nurtured a desire to work in racing from a young age.
His first major job in racing came at Sheikh Mohammed's Darley operation following work experience with former top trainer Stan Mellor and at Littleton Stud in Winchester.
He worked for Darley for 12 years before helping to establish Anthony Stroud Bloodstock Limited in 1999. Richard worked there for eight years broadening his experience and, of course, increasing his knowledge of the bloodstock industry.
Over the years Richard has sourced and purchased winners for a host of influential owners and trainers, including Ivan Allan, Kim Bailey, John Best, Leo Braem, Henry Cecil, Jane Chapple-Hyam, Peter Chapple-Hyam, David Elsworth, Chris
Gordon, Nicky Henderson, Dan Hendricks (USA), Mario Hofer, Neil King, James Lambe, Nick Littmoden, Jim Moffatt, Hughie Morrison, Jeremy Noseda, Martin Pipe, Brendan Powell, Lucinda Russell, Michael Scudamore, Satish Seemar, Roger Teal, Tim Vaughan and Lucy Wadham.
Richard achieved particular success with United and Mudawin. United, who he sourced from Germany for Lucy Wadham, has won eight times over hurdles notably the Grade 1 Punchestown Juvenile Championship in 2005, the 2007 National Spirit Hurdle (Grade 2) and was a leading fancy for the 2009 Cheltenham Festival. Mudawin was purchased at the Doncaster Lincoln Sale in 2005 for 42,000 Guineas, and famously won the 2006 Ebor Handicap at 100/1 for Jane Chapple-Hyam.

Richard also has experience of sourcing Stallions. He has brokered the deals to purchase: 6 time Group One winner Sulamani for Yorton Farm (on behalf of Rathbarry Stud) , Zafeen (Group 1 winner) for Haras du Petit Tellier, Deportivo (Group 2 winner) for Haras des Faunes , Touch of Land (multiple Group 2 winner) for Knockhouse Stud and Josr Algarhoud (Group 2 winner) for Hedgeholme Stud. He also brokered several lease deals for stallions in 2010, including Centennial, Diamond Green, Iron Mask, Martillo and Milk It Mick.
His extensive experience has also brought work as a syndicate manager, notably for the Not Over Big Partnership, responsible for, and enjoying success with, Yeast, Super Dollar, Absolute Shambles and Gallileo Figaro (pictured left), among others.
Richard has the skills and commitment to find many more stakes-class performers on the flat and over jumps and indeed, provides a host of services essential to the bloodstock industry.
